Sometimes you simply need a space to catch your breath.
If you're helping to care for a loved one, then you are part of a growing community of family caregivers. Family caregiving is not for the faint of heart. It can be overwhelming, exhausting, and emotionally draining. Yet, a little bit of self-care can be liberating, whether it’s a quick walk in the fresh air or remembering to eat better.
Why The Program Is Valuable To Family Caregivers:
How do you balance and blend the role of traditional family member (son, daughter, husband, wife) with the emotional and physical demands of caregiving? There is no map of exactly how to navigate through something for which you haven’t been prepared. Resources are available, but where do you start? Feeling alone and lost is often the case.
Having a group of people that are walking in your shoes, along the path with you, relieves stress and allows you to breathe. Breathing Spaces offers a community where you can share your concerns and feel supported.
By providing a variety of resources, we give family caregivers the ability to feel supported, to get together to talk, or to just ‘be’ with people who understand.
Why It Works:
We believe that caregiver wellness is best supported through an interchangeable combination of movement, nutrition and mindfulness. Offering a variety of self-care programs combined with emotional and social support allows caregivers the flexibility to explore helpful self-care options.
